Torino welcomes the opportunity to host the XXXIII Congress of the International Society of Limnology. The congress will take place at the Lingotto Conference Centre, Lingotto, built between 1917 and 1922. was designed by architect Giacomo Mattè Trucco, and symbolised a turning point in the development of Italian industry, marking the end of one era and the start of another. In 1985 the factory ceased production and In 1989 an international competition was launched (the winning project is by Genoese architect Renzo Piano - designer of the Beaubourg in Paris in the 1970s) to transform the Lingotto industrial area into a modern multifunctional centre.
Italy offers a wide variety of a waters, and participants will be invited to pay a visit to selected areas, historical, and cultural spots of unique nature.
